5 things you need to know about lips and volume
When we talk lips, images of Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Marilyn Monroe with their famous lips spring to mind.
What is it about lips?
Lips are an important component of facial aesthetics and symmetry. When we look at a person’s face the focus of the lower face is the lips. Full lips with an accentuated border symbolize sexuality and sensuality and are associated with beauty and youth.
How does ageing affect the lips?
Over time the ageing of our lower face becomes more and more noticeable. The skin wrinkles and folds appear especially around the mouth area. The loss of volume is also more noticeable in the lips. Lip fullness and definition is reduced. Loss of volume causes fat pads to descend, creating jowls.
What if I am not old and have thin lips?
No matter what stage of life you are in, it’s possible to maximize overall beauty by enhancing or restoring volume to the lips and surrounding areas.
How much downtime is involved?
The cosmetic injection is administered by a Registered Nurse. The treatment can take up to 45 minutes depending on the amount.
If you have a specific function or public appearance to attend ensure your consultation is booked for approximately 1 week prior to the event for optimum outcome.
What do I need to do after my cosmetic injection?
Swelling will occur immediately and ice packs can help reduce this. (Or even a frozen pack of peas!) It is best to avoid and excessive UV exposure for at least 48 hours post treatment.
You may need to use a lip balm to help prevent dry lips initially, and no makeup is to be used for 12 hours.
